elaeagnus gilt edge © 2014A dense and rounded medium-sized shrub. Dark green leaves with yellow ‘gilt’ margins. The small silvery flowers have a nice fragrance and are followed by orange berries. 

Origin: Japan

Elaeagnus x ebbingei limelight Hardy shrub with silvery young growth, which matures green with yellow and pale green in the centers. Makes the ultimate hardy showy hedge. The small autumn flowers are scented and are followed by small edible fruits that are less astringent if picked when ripe & stored. Available in non Variegated form elaeagnus x ebbingei.

Country of Origin: Asia, few from S. Europe and N. America. 

(Smooth Leaved Quandong) A rainforest tree of eastern Australia. Lovely dark green glossy leaves with bronze new growth. Scented cream flowers during the summer. A decorative beauty. 

Origin: Australia

(Pink Flowered Form) Medium sized native tree with masses of dainty pink flowers like fringed ballerina dresses which hang in clusters below the stem. flower in Summer. Growing to 15 metres.

Origin: Austriaila, New South Wales

Well known plant hunter Ernest ‘Chinese’ Wilson described this as “one of the most strikingly beautiful trees of the Chinese forests.” Rare in cultivation and rare to flowers. When in bloom is a beautiful display of star-shaped, fragrant blooms. Belongs to the coffee family.

enkianthus campanulatus © 2014Considered the hardiest of all the Enkianthus species. A medium–sized narrow, upright deciduous shrub. Adorned with bright glossy green foliage with brilliant copper-red autumn tones. Creamy white flowers with red veins in spring.

Enkianthus cernuus Rubens Brilliant display of autumn colour and racemes of bell-shaped flowers in spring/summer. Autumn tones of purple and red foliage. RHS Award of Garden Merit.

Origin: Japan

A hardy perennial shrub with lovely cream and peach flowers in late spring and through summer. Great for sheltered semi-shaded positions and likes to be kept moist. 

Origin: China
