Daphne longilobata A well known Daphne, commonly used as rootstock for grafting. Grows to 1.5m tall. A gently scented Daphne and one of the larger growers. The clusters of tubular flowers are cream with a green tinge at the outer end. Flowers are followed by red fruits.

Origin: China

Daphne odora(Winter Daphne) A popular garden plant fame for its delightful fragrance. At home in dappled shade. Produces showy white or pink flower heads from late winter onwards. Prefers morning sun in an easterly facing location. Cut flowers will fill the house with perfume.

Daphne odora alba standard1White flowering standard winter daphne.

daphne white star white(Star White) Reputed to be a hardier form of Daphne odora ‘Alba’. A denser plant with a lemon scented fragrance. A small evergreen shrub with masses of white starry flowers from mid winter.

Daphne odora VariegataPink flowering daphne with a white outer line on leaves, 2 meter x 2 meters

Daphne ponticaA Daphne with a difference. A late flowerer – will put on tis show after other Daphnes have finished. Flowers are star-shaped with a green-yellow tinge. Grows best as an understory plant in filtered light. 

Origin: Europe and Turkey 

Daphne x burwoodiiSlow growing semi-evergreen bushy shrub to 1metre with narrow leaves. Pretty perfumed white flowers tinted pink-mauve in clusters along the stems in spring and early summer.

 

daphne napolitana © 2014Plant forms low mounds of mid green foliage with dainty pink, scented flowers. Prefers a low light environment to give best results. 

Origin: Europe

Daphniphyllum macropodumA shrub or small tree chiefly grown for its bold, textural foliage. Sometimes called the False Daphne. Daphniphyllum comes from the Greek and refers to “Daphne” and “leaf.” The common name in Japanese is Yuzuri-ha.
