A colourful shrub with beautiful, deeply cut, golden foliage. One of the elite of golden-foliaged shrubs; slower-growing and best in light shade.Rich yellow flowers.
Triadica sebifera, also known as Sapium sebiferum , commonly known as the Chinese tallow, ( Chinese tallowtree, Florida aspen, chicken tree, gray popcorn tree, and candleberry tree ). Superb small neatly rounded conical , deciduous tree with extraordinary Autumn tones gold orange and reds. Seems to color in milder climates better than many deciduous trees & small enough to be suburban friendly specimen size.
Great shade shrub ( can handle very shady ). Rich green bushy shrubs that look great all year .Masses of small white perfumed flowers in spring , followed by black berries. We also have S. Ruscifolia with red berries. Some plants are so utilitarian in landscape , this is high on the list for shady gardens. Ornamental Non edible berries.
Himalayan Sweet Box. Mass perfume flowered evergreen shrub. Loves shady or woodland areas. Petals are white but the flare around the top is deep pink-red making a striking and beautiful show. The stems are noticeably purple more so at times. Low growing and easy to grow suckering shrub to 1 metre , will fill out dull garden bed if mass planted. Winter mass flowering followed by shiny black berries. Under utilised wonderful shrub.
Peruvian Pepper Tree ( not a true pepper ). Hardy evergreen trees up to 15 metres tall , from the Peruvian Ande. Incredibly hardy , heat cold and dry tolerant , great shade trees often used in hot inland Australian areas providing a sanctuary from our Aussie extremes. The bright pink fruits of Schinus molle are often sold as "pink peppercorns" ( in South America) Schinus molle is unrelated to the true pepper (Piper nigrum).
