The purple to red stems and white/green variegated leaves are long and pointed ( cream white margins and red tinted new growth ). The long streamer racemes of cream-to-yellow flower catkins in early spring typical of the species. Makes a bold statement cascading over a path or bank. Semi shade with deep summer watering. Frost hardy chinese shrub , that deserves more attention in Australian gardening. Introduced by Arnold Teese to Australia.
