picea mexicana © 2013 Good looking spruce with slightly bluish tint. Branch tips nodding.Syn.of Picea engelmannii subsp.mexicana.

One of the most beautiful and adaptable spruces in cultivation, quickly forming a tall, graceful, slender tree. A medium-sized to large tree with relatively short, drooping branches which curve upwards at the tips. Young shoots pale brown. Leaves flattened, 1-2cm long, dark green above, glaucous beneath, densely arranged on the upper surfaces of the branchlets, loosley parted below. The leaves of young plants are narrower, sharply pointed and more spreading on the shoots than those of the adult. Cones ovoid-conical,4-6cm long, bluish black when young.

A slow-growing dwarf, making a dense, rounded bun with numerous brown buds abd silver-blue foliage. Originally found as a witches'broom.A dense irregular globose dwarf with short blue-grey needles and white stomatal bands.In ten years 30cm tall and 40cm wide.The name is German for goblin.Originated in 1972 as a witches'broom in Wustemeyer Nursery,Germany.

Young shoots creamy yellow, becoming golden yellow, finally green. A spectacular tree in spring.A tree with a normal habit but the young shoots are creamy yellow in spring,later turning green but retaining a yellowish glow.In ten years 2.5x1m.Raised before 1873 by P.Smith,Germany.

A medium-sized, flat-topped bush of dense, compact habit, with horizontally spreading branches and grey-green leaves.Syn.of 'Skylands'.

picea pungens blue trinket © (Colorado Blue Spruce) Low maintence plant that is very easy to grow. Sometimes used as Christmas Trees, or Ordimentals. Reaching heights of 65 - 115 feet tall, a very slow grower , life expectancy up to 600 - 800 yrs. Offical state tree of Colorado and Utah.

(Dwarf Blue Spruce) Outstanding globe of bright blue. Excellent plant for rock garden or tub.A slow-growing,very compact,broadly conical dwarf with a leader and short,thickish,powder-blue needles.In ten years 1.5-2x0.9m.Originated before 1934 in Eastern Nursery,MA,USA,later obtained by Col.R.H.Montgomery,CT,USA.'R.H.Montgomery' was an ealier name for this cultivar and therefore should be the correct name,however 'Montgomery' is in general use and(under ICNCP Art.29.2,2009)should probably be sanctioned by the International Cultivar Registration Authority.
