arisaema candidissima © 2014Leaf with up to 23 leaflets arranged like a necklace which is very attractive.Greenish flowers stand vertically above foliage and do not arch over.

Arisaema ringens Large shiny 3 lobed foliage species, rich thick textured leaves. The Flowers appear below the foliage and have green and white stripes on top, rolling at the tip. The underside of each flower is dark purple-black and rolled as if a snail shell.

A spectacular plant with a long blooming period. Sometimes called the Black Cobra Lily.

Closely related to the Arum, but is differentiated by the absence of sterile flowers on the spadix. Ornamental bracts with unique shapes and colouring, make them particularly attractive. The flowers are unusual but their greatest hallmark is the colouring and shape of their foliage.

A wonderful tall cobra lilly to 1.5m with attractively divided leaves. Stems  beautifully patterned brown, red and black. Green flowers held above foliage with a long black spadix curving out and up. Excellent woodlander.

Jack in the pulpit has leaves with three leaflets, distinguishing it from its congener green-dragon (Arisaema dracontium), which has 5-13 leaflets per leaf. Native Americans used the roots of jack-in-the -pulpit for a large variety of medicinal purposes, especially eye and respiratory conditions. They considered the root very poisonous without careful preparation. There are three subspecies present in New England.
Carries a short, stout scape topped by an emerald-green and white striped spathe, with a white basal tube and green, protruding, spadix. Its naturally small tubers are readily grown in garden soil increasing pleasantly. They should be planted in half shade, but they are tolerant. Flowering is in May. Red berries follow in September.

120cm Tall.Drought resistance,very good.Non flowering.extremely frost tolerant.Light requirement is full sun to partial shade.A superb and versatile plant from New Zealand with completely silver, flax-like foliage. Makes a bold statement in the mixed border with sedums and euphorbias or can be grown in gravel with succulents and alpine plants. Also a great pot plant.Full sun to part shade.
