Maple

Acer rubrum ScanlonColumnar form of the "Canadian Red Maple". One of the most wonderful forms I've seen , we introduced this cultivar many years ago and it remains one of the best. Strong upright narrow tree , superb large green leaves and terrific bright Red autumn Blaze.

  Acer rufinerve Winter GoldFound as a seedling with gold stems , amongst Acer rufinerve seedlings by Peter Dousma .Peter was a friend of my father , who worked At Hillier’s Nursery UK before immigrating here. Great golden autumn tones and pure gold winter stems.

  Acer sacharrumThe Iconic Maple of North America for making "Maple Sugar" from its sap , this process only works if the there is significant chill ( which is not enough in Australia ). One of the most Magnificent large Maples , with large luxuriant fingered Green leaves. In Autumn they go through bright Golds , Oranges and Reds , accentuated by cold.

acer shirasawanum palmatifolium  Very attractive large green leaves spring-summer , turning excellent autumn tones. The foliage is deeply lobed , each narrow and pointed with some serration.  Acer shirasawanum group ( formally japonicum ) called the ‘Moon Maple’. New spring foliage is accompanied by bright red seed pods into summer.

This small, rounded Japanese maple makes a terrific focal point in shady gardens with its lime-tinged golden leaves. During the autumn months its leaves turn a stunning orange and red. This variety requires shade and protection from the sun and drying winds.

Origin: Japan

Acer shirasawanum palmatifidum   Will reach 7-9 m tall in time.This is an upright vase shapped tree with a crown of around 6 meters over time.Full sun, however better with a little afternoon shade,Mid green large palmate foliage with 11 lobes. Foliage turns to red, yellow and orange in autumn.

acer sieboldianum mikasa yama The young spring foliage has downy white hairs, petiole and veins on the underside of foliage remain hairy all summer, a feature distinguishing it from the Acer palmatum. Also yellow small flowers distinct from Acer japonicum. Wonderful green foliage larger than Acer palmatum species generally. The autumn is gold and orange blast , under utilised hardy tree species. Native to Japan.

Acer sieboldianum AtarviiIntroduced by Yamina Rare Plants this fabulous maple has large leaves cut into 9-11 fingers. The autumn display is perhaps the most tremendous display I’ve ever seen , Gold, Orange and Red blast. My father was never convinced by the name and I’m likewise still questioning the accuracy, it is beyond doubt one of my favourites.Pete Teese.

Acer TriflorumWhite Paper Bark Maple. Extremely rare, white shaggy peeling bark, hardy small elegant tree. Country of origin: Korea.

Acer x esk Flamingo  Introduced by Yamina Rare Plants in the 1980s for all its unique features. A weeping small tree with spectacular pink green and white variegation. Esk Flamingo is a quality form of Snake Bark maple. The Autumn tones cut through golds and oranges predominantly.
